The 20th Logistics Readiness Squadron defeated an undermanned and winded 20th Communications Squadron 44-30 Tuesday.

The game did not start off well for CS as frequent missed shots and turnovers led to an 8-0 run by LRS. CS' first points did not come until just after six minutes had gone by in the first half.

During the next three minutes of play, CS chipped LRS' lead down to 4 with six minutes left to play.

Still struggling to contain LRS, CS called a timeout with two minutes left and down 15-9. The timeout worked as CS used the breather to rest their five players to pull within two points of LRS with only 33 seconds left in the half.

Unfortunately for CS, LRS' Mike Royster dropped two three-pointers in the final seconds to end the half at 21-15.

At halftime, LRS Coach Garry Miles said his team just needed to keep the intensity up to come out with a victory.

With time to rest, CS' five players did not repeat their first-half mistakes and came out with a three pointer to kickoff the second half.

Royster diminished any CS chance for a come back by firing a three pointer making the score 26-20.

Over the next several minutes, CS lack of a bench was apparent as they were unable to slow down LRS’ constant attack, slipping to a 15-point deficit with eight minutes left in the game.

During the final minute of the game, LRS' Darrius Williams pleased the crowd with a meaningless dunk.

"Our intensity and solid teamwork allowed us to win here today,” Miles said. “This win definitely helps us to position ourselves in the tournament. We just need to continue working on our skills, so we can finish what we started last season and win the base championship.”

Player-coach Robert Kitchen said CS played fairly hard for only having five players for the game.

"I think this game showed we were a little winded coming off the Christmas break, and the fact that our bench was depleted because of TDYs affected our play. We just need to get in some more practices, and hopefully we will meet this team again in the tournament," he said.
