Shaw Spotlight: Senior Airman Chanitria Garnett

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. --  This week's Shaw Spotlight is Senior Airman Chanitria Garnett, 20th Force Support Squadron service apprentice, from Atlanta, Ga.

Garnett has been in the Air Force for more than three years and arrived at Shaw Dec. 9, 2009.

Her favorite quote is: "Everything happens for a reason."

"Garnett is very knowledgeable in all aspects of daily storeroom operations," said Staff Sgt. Ashley Long, 20th FSS NCO in charge of Chief Emerson E. Williams Dining Facility's storeroom. "I don't know where I'd be without her. I know that I can always count on her to get the job done. I look forward to working with her every day because she always makes me laugh and puts a smile on my face."

Family: Mother, Wyzonia Garnett; younger brother, Ronald; grandmother, Joan Butler; aunt, Linda Williams.

Music: R&B and hip hop. It really depends on what it sounds like. Those two are just my favorite.

Guilty pleasure: My guilty pleasure is anything with strawberries because they are my favorite fruit.

Biggest accomplishment: Getting my CCAF degree on Sept. 18, 2012.

Favorite food: Any kind of soul food. A few of my favorites are turnip greens, macaroni and cheese, ox tails, and fried chicken.

Heroes: My mom is my hero. She has been a single parent of two kids. She raised my brother and I to be successful people. She got both of us through school with one income and one car. She helped us to make it to college and still managed to give us anything we wanted and needed, despite whether she had things for herself or not.

Goal: To get a masters degree in accounting and become a bookkeeper.

Hobbies: Cooking, dancing, shopping, going out to the movies, learning new things, traveling, going out to eat and hanging out with friends.
