Warrior of the week: Airman 1st Class Quinton Pope

This week's Warrior of the Week is Airman 1st Class Quinton Pope, 682nd Air Support Operations Squadron communication systems networking, from Cincinnati, Ohio.

Airman Pope's main job during deployments is to maintain the Air Support Operations Center lab and ensure communication is maintained for close air support.

His responsibilities are to deploy theater deploy communication systems, providing phones and data access anywhere anytime, said Staff Sgt. Michael Staubs, 682nd ASOS C4I systems supervisor. He also maintains the operations training labs so they can practice live scenarios to keep them qualified on critical wartime task.

He maintains the unit's ASOC gateway, which provides a live digital air picture feed and ties in remote joint terminal air controllers so they can communicate with aircraft through digital means, increasing target accuracy and speeding up the kill chain. Additionally, he is required to stay combat mission ready through army tactics training.
