Weasel of the Week | Airman 1st Class Shadrica Hunt

The Weasel of the Week series asks Team Shaw to share their experiences, Air Force spirit and personalities. We sat down with Airman 1st Class Shadrica Hunt, 20th Medical Group public health technician, to get to know her and her job. Hunt in-processes and out-processes 20th Fighter Wing members, provides travel medicine information and tracks overseas PCS medical requirements. She plans on working towards earning Senior Airman below the zone and eventually becoming a nurse or physician assistant.

Where are you from?
Athens, Alabama.

Why did you decide to work with the Air Force?
I wanted to be a part of an organization that has meaning.

How long have you been at Shaw?
A little over a year.

What is your favorite part of South Carolina?
My favorite part about South Carolina is having family so close to me.

What is your favorite part of your hometown?
My favorite part about Athens, Alabama, is all of the open land and trees.

How would you describe a normal day for you?
In/out-processing members of Shaw AFB and sister services.

What is your favorite sport?
My favorite sport is basketball.

What is one word that describes how you lead?
Initiative.

What is one Air Force resource you found that is incredibly beneficial?
Mentorship.

What is one thing you wish people knew about your job?
I wish people knew that we also do hands-on things; we don’t sit behind a desk all day.

What is your least favorite task and how do you make sure you get it done?
My least favorite thing to do is 30 day deployment scrubs. I make it the first priority on my list.

What is your favorite part of the job?
Working with my team members.

What would you like to say to the people back home?
I honestly could not have accomplished all that I have without their support.
