Weasel of the Week | Senior Airman Connor Watts

The Weasel of the Week series asks Team Shaw to share their experiences, Air Force spirit and personalities. We sat down with Senior Airman Connor Watts, 55th Fighter Generation Squadron phase team member, to get to know him and his job. Watts performs phase checks and returns mission ready aircraft to the flightline. He plans on receiving his Aircraft and Power Plant license and earning a degree in sports medicine.

Where are you from?
San Antonio, TX.

Why did you decide to join the Air Force?
I wanted to better myself and get some job experience.

How long have you been at Shaw?
2 years.

What is your favorite part of South Carolina?
My favorite part of South Carolina is Myrtle Beach.

What is your favorite part of your hometown?
My favorite part of my hometown is exploring downtown San Antonio.

How would you describe a normal day for you?
There is no normal day, every day is something different. Whatever needs to be done gets done and if it is broke you fix it.

What is your favorite sport? Team?
MotoGP Racing and my favorite racer is Fabio Quartararo.

What is one word that describes how you lead?
The best word would be head-first. I like to take the job or problem head-on.

What is one Air Force resource you found that is incredibly beneficial?
My NCO’s, their leadership and mentorship has helped me through my Air Force career.

What is one thing you wish people knew about your job?
It is not all sunshine and rainbows, it takes a lot of hard work and a lot of unexpected things can happen making the workplace go from 0-100 quick.

What is your least favorite task and how do you make sure you get it done?
I am very tall so anything under the jet is hard for me to do. Getting a chair usually helps get it done.

What is your favorite part of the job?
Meeting new people and establishing friendships and connections with them.
