SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- U.S. Army Central leadership awarded six Airmen from the 20th Mission Support Group Army Achievement Medals Sept. 10.
The Airmen received the commendations for a series of projects intending to improve the U.S. Army Central headquarters, including: office space modification, sensitive compartmented information facility door installation, internal access point improvement and concrete pad reinforcement with lighting for ARCENT’s nearly 70 ton Abrams Main Battle Tank display.
“We want to recognize the relationship we have with Airmen from the 20th Fighter Wing,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Carlos Evans, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion ARCENT command sgt. maj. “Showing appreciation for our partnership is not something we are planning to do one time. We want to better highlight the relationship we share going forward.”
Shaw is home to ARCENT, America’s land domain experts in the United States Central Command area of responsibility. The 20th FW, provides support to ARCENT in the form of infrastructure projects, contract development and joint-training opportunities.
“We have a big mission at Shaw and it’s valuable to be joint teammates with ARCENT,” said Col. Kevin Hicock, 20th FW vice commander. “The expanded viewpoint from our sister service makes us better at the 20th Fighter Wing.”
