The 20th Medical Group hosted 20th Fighter Wing honorary commanders for an immersion tour at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, Jan. 22, 2026. The immersion was designed to provide civilian community leaders with more extensive knowledge of the base’s military medical operations and capabilities. The 20th FW’s honorary commander program pairs local civic leaders to units across the wing, provide them with access to Shaw AFB and 20th FW activities and foster opportunities for them to interact with commanders and senior leadership across the base. This relationship is designed to empower honorary commanders with knowledge of wing operations and build support for the installation in the surrounding area. The 20th MDG provides services to patients throughout Shaw AFB and at 20th FW geographically separated units, ensuring service members at Shaw and beyond are medically ready and fit to fight.
