SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, are recognized for their selection for promotion to the rank of chief master sergeant during a ceremony at Shaw, May 1, 2026. The chief master sergeant recognition ceremony is an Air Force tradition designed to honor those selected to join the service's highest enlisted rank. Comprising only one percent of the enlisted force, chief master sergeants serve as trusted advisors to their commanders and are responsible for the morale, welfare and readiness of the enlisted servicemembers in their organizations. Chief Master Sgt. Jonna J. Martin, 25th Attack Wing command chief, provided the keynote address for the ceremony. (U.S. Air Force photos by Staff Sgt. Max J. Daigle)
