The 20th Force Support Squadron Fitness and Health Center at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, offers a variety of ways to help Team Shaw stay fit throughout 2016.

The center currently holds a variety of classes including Boot Camp and Fit MaXX, held at the Main Fitness Center, and Zumba and spin classes, held at the Fitness Center Annex.

Charles Glover, 20th FSS fitness and sports director, said the most popular classes are spin and Zumba.

The spin class is an indoor cycling class suitable for beginner through advanced levels that improves muscular and cardio fitness.

"The only thing I ask is that you don't stop and you don't give up," said U.S. Army Capt. Doreen Fuller, U.S. Army Central Command Augmentation Company commander and volunteer spin instructor at the Fitness Center Annex.

The Fitness Center Annex also offers sculpting and kickboxing as well as Fitness on Request classes.

Glover described Fitness on Request as a virtual program that allows users access to approximately 30-40 classes. Fitness on Request does require registration with a thumbprint and is currently only available at the Fitness Center Annex.

All volunteer instructors must be certified for what they teach, have liability insurance and CPR and Automatic External Defibrillator certification.

Classes are scheduled for various times to correspond with work schedules and generally run for about an hour.

The Fitness Center can also help Airmen get in touch with personal trainers.

Equipment for those with physical disabilities is also available at the Fitness Center Annex.

All classes are free and do not require registration.
