Every year the Air Force hosts the Combined Federal Campaign, which provides military members a chance to support a variety of charities.

The CFC, which runs from Oct. 16 - Nov. 27, is a program for personnel who wish to donate their money to aid a non-profit organization of their choice.

"The program is distinct in that it gives people an opportunity to give to the causes that are most important to them," said 1st Lt. Collin Wilcox, 20th Fighter Wing commander's action group chief. "That way, the program is tailored to the individual and they can work to address issues that they care about."

This year SAFB has two primary goals: To make 100 percent contact with personnel on base and to receive 500 contributions totaling $100,000.

Each squadron on base has a CFC representative who contacts members within their unit to collect donations for the approximately 20,000 non-profit charities worldwide they can donate to.

"I want to help because I personally see the effects of those donations through one of the non-profit organizations that I am currently a member of," said Staff Sgt. Jessica Crandall, 20th Comptroller Squadron financial services supervisor. "I believe in donating to help those who need it the most and improve the quality of life."

The CFC also serves as a way for service members to provide assistance to those who need it.

"I have participated in several events and been given assistance during great times of need," said Crandall. "The events I have participated in with that organization have strengthened my overall Comprehensive Airman Fitness.  Without the donations of those who care, all of that would not be possible."

The CFC aims to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.
