The Team Shaw 5/6 and Top 3 hosted a dorm cleanup with more than 400 Airmen who helped clean nine dormitories, strengthening relationships between Airmen and their supervisors here, Oct. 30.

"The event was organized to help get supervisors more engaged with their Airmen," said Tech. Sgt. Christopher Berry, 20th Equipment Maintenance Squadron non-commissioned officer in charge of munition operations. "The event helps make sure Airmen in the dorms have what they need and that the facility is functional."

The dorm cleaning consisted of room inspections of resident Airmen from their respective supervisors. The inspection helped determine the functionality of appliances and lights, and helped Airmen locate fire extinguishers in case an emergency occurs.

After completing their initial room inspection, Airmen and supervisors were met outside the dorms by base leadership, who helped clean the surrounding areas.

"I think it's great to have support from leadership because it shows that they actually care about the Airmen," said Airman 1st Class Joshua Bailey, 20th Force Support Squadron force management technician. "Not only are they working out here, they are mentoring, talking to us, and getting to know us better."

The cleanup was not only about the supervisors and their relationship with the Airmen, but the base working as a whole to complete the mission.

"The event revolves around the wing commander's policy of 'Airman Up!'," said Senior Master Sgt. Ainsley Gordon, 20th Logistic Readiness Squadron vehicle fleet manager. "It's about being 'all in', regardless of where you live on the base or where you work on base."

At the end of the day, the Airmen were left with cleaner dorms and a better relationship with their supervisors and base leadership.
