The 2015 Feds Feeding Families campaign is wrapping up Oct. 2.

Team Shaw members have participated in the campaign, which began in June, and have donated more than 6,000 out of a desired 10,000 pounds of living supplies

The donated food and hygiene items are going to Sumter United Ministries to be distributed to more than 870 families.

To donate during the remaining few weeks, drop donations can be left in the brown boxes in buildings throughout base displaying the Feds Feeding Families flyer.

Feds Feeding Families began in 2009 as part of President Barack Obama's United We Stand initiative as a way to help food banks and pantries stay stocked during summer months.

Suggested donations include: canned meats, fruits, soups, and vegetables; whole grain foods such as brown rice, cereal, and pasta; condiments; baking goods; and hygiene items such as deodorant, toothpaste, and shampoo.
