PCS season increases TMO operations

The 20th Logistics Readiness Squadrons' passenger travel and personal property teams are gearing up to enter their busiest time of year; peak moving season.

Peak moving season begins near the end of April and continues until the middle of September.

It is TMO's goal to provide Airmen and their families the necessary information to assist in obtaining their desired move dates and decrease some move stressors.

The following key steps will assist Airmen in taking charge of their PCS move.

Arranging household goods move:

Once Airmen receive PCS orders, they need to log into www.move.mil and register for a defense personal property system account. No arrangements can be made without orders.

Once the account is activated, complete the self-counseling portion in DPS and print related documents, including the DD form 1299 and DD form 1797, as well as applicable customs documentation.

Once the self-counseling section is complete, bring the printed documents to the TMO customer service counter in building 1118, and they will assist you in completing the final processing requirements.

Airmen must also provide alternate move out dates that are at least two weeks out from their original dates in case there is no carrier availability.

If pressed for time, look to alternate modes or sources of transportation; a personally procured move is always an option.

Avoid making major decisions or commitments until all dates are confirmed by the transportation service provider or carrier.

Airmen must monitor their DPS account for important information regarding their move.

It is pertinent to maintain good communication with TSP personnel. Airmen must be home at the arranged date and time for their scheduled pick-up or they will be subject to an attempted pick-up charge.

Airmen may come to the TMO office during normal customer service hours if they are unable to access DPS or have issues completing the self-counseling portion and complete the processing on one of the DPS terminals or make an appointment to attend one of the mass TMO counseling sessions.

Walk-in customer service hours are 9:00 a.m. to noon, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
