The Team Shaw Chief's Group held their quarterly award luncheon honoring Airmen who received the J.J. Pollock Sharp Award during the last three months here, March 28.

The J.J. Pollock Sharp Award, was named in honor of the late Chief Master Sgt. J.J. Pollock, who brought the award to Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, in 1993, and ran the program until his retirement in 1994.

He passed away 15 days after his retirement and the chief's group named the award in his honor.

Judy Pollock, the wife of J.J., attended the luncheon along with their son, John Pollock III.

Judy expressed her thankfulness to the Chief's Group for honoring her husband's legacy at Shaw, and said how proud she was of his accomplishments.

"Since the award was named after the late Chief Master Sgt. John "J.J." Pollock, it is only fitting that we honor his service and dedication to mentoring Airmen by inviting his surviving family member," said Chief Master Sgt. Antonio Brock, U.S. Air Forces Central Shaw senior enlisted leader and chief of air transportation and traffic management.

Brock went on to say, "It was an honor to have them as a part of a ceremony and tradition that Chief J.J. Pollock embodied while he served in our Air Force."

Each month, the Shaw Chiefs' Group awards two outstanding individuals from across Shaw Air Force Base who epitomize the values of CMSgt J.J. Pollock and the United States Air Force.
