Team Shaw and members of the Sumter community participated in a newcomers tour here, April 16.

New also to the base, the tour provided a unique look into the 20th Fighter Wing.

The first stop on the trolley guided tour was the 20th Maintenance Group weapons and standardization building.

"Participants got a better understanding of the F-16 and its capabilities," said Tech. Sgt. Thad Burton, 20th MXG weapons and standardization load crew member. "I think it also helped the community members understand the base more to help them support us."

Along the tour, stops were made at the mission support center, 20th FW headquarters, followed by a windshield tour of Patton Hall, 20th Civil Engineer Squadron fire training grounds, and the 20th Operations Support Squadron air traffic control tower.

"It was very informative," said Staff Sgt. Vincent Colmes, 20th MXG aerospace propulsion craftsman. "It helps make the transition easier after seeing everything and knowing where to go."

Newcomer tours will be held monthly with the next one scheduled for May 28. To reserve your seat on the next tour call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at (803) 895-1253.
