Long hours, hard work, and dedication is what fills the day's of most U.S. Air Force Airmen.

The 20th Force Support Squadron provides fun filled activities on base for Airmen and their families to help them unwind and promote community and resiliency.

Facilities on base include a golf course, trap and skeet range, and a bowling alley for Airmen to gather as a squadron, with friends or individually and enjoy their time off work.

"From a leadership perspective, I see a lot of possibilities to use activities like skeet shooting and golf or bowling to build unit resiliency, and even for mentoring," said Col. John Thomas, 20th Mission Support Group commander.

The trap and skeet range here is a family atmosphere, the members love to show new Airmen what they know; it's a great way to meet new people and build camaraderie, said Tim Godwin, 20th FSS outdoor recreation director.

"We try our best to serve our military members and retirees, and really show how much we appreciate what they do," said Godwin. "We want to provide the best service that we can do for them."

The 20th FSS provides recreational facilities that may have been forgotten here on Shaw; these facilities offer Airmen and their supervisors another outlet for getting to know each other and can provide balance in their lives, said Thomas.

Remaining resilient is something all Airmen are encouraged to be with the high stress and high paced jobs there are in the Air Force. Resiliency can be found in many forms, which is why the 20th FSS has such a wide variety of outlets for Airmen.

"The 20th FSS is driven by what military members want," said Godwin. "If anyone has ideas of something they would like to see on the base in the way of recreational activities, please let us know."

The 20th FSS Airmen also provide vacation opportunities including deep-sea fishing trips, the wateree recreation area, and year around events to give Airmen different opportunities to relax and have fun.

Recreational activities are an important part of assisting Airmen in remaining resilient. For more information on activities provided for Airmen and their families visit www.20thFSS.com.
