Col. Stephen Jost, 20th Fighter Wing commander, held his first all-call of the year, here, Jan. 5.

Jost spoke about his four C's for the 20th FW: combat readiness, compliance, community, and core values.

In addition to the four C's, Jost unveiled his new initiative "Airman Up".

"I'm not just talking about getting out of the dirt when you get knocked down," said Jost. "I'm talking about looking at your lives today and figuring out where you want to be tomorrow."

While Jost talked about "Airman Up", eight Team Shaw members sat on stage for recognition. Each of the eight had already put "Airman Up" into practice through resiliency and personal development.

"One side of Airman Up is resiliency," said Jost. "Resiliency is so much easier when you've got good wingmen by your side, good leaders in front, a good support network behind you, and peers all around."

Along with resiliency, Jost spoke about not only having Air Force goals, but personal goals as well.

Personal development is not limited to Air Force goals. It may mean learning to better balance work with family life, maybe learning to be a more patient father or mother. Either way, leaving Shaw AFB, a better person than before arriving, said Jost.

Jost made it clear that there are no rules on how to "Airman Up".

"I'm not going to legislate what Airman Up is," said Jost. "It can be 10 things, it can be one thing. It can be a big thing, it can be a small thing. But it has to be something."

Along with Jost, Chief Master Sgt. Charles Mills, 20th FW command chief, spoke about being a part of the wing.
"I'm proud to stand here as a member of the 20th FW," said Mills. "I'm looking forward to this year, to the challenges because we will meet and exceed them."

As 2015 begins to unfold, Airmen are challenged to find their own way through resiliency and personal development to "Airman Up".
