Fourty-six Airmen with the 823rd Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers, assigned to Hurlburt Field, Fla., have been working here since March 29 to complete three construction projects.

The main project is to expand Patrol Road from 20 feet to 24 feet to comply with current South Carolina Department of Transportation requirements.

Recently, the Airmen have completed the curb for Patrol Road.

"This project is going extremely well," said Staff Sgt. Forrest Dixon, 823rd RED HORSE heavy equipment operator. "We haven't had too many problems so hopefully we'll be done on time."

The three projects are estimated at $4.5 million and are scheduled to be completed in September.

"These Airmen are really working hard," said Tech. Sgt. Ronald Weymer, 823rd RED HORSE heavy equipment operator. "They work 12 hours a day, Monday through Saturday, and we'll break into Sunday if we have to. We're trying to get this project done as quickly as possible."
