Congratulations to Airman 1st Class Tevin Young, 20th Component Maintenance Squadron aircraft fuel systems journeyman, for being recognized as Diamond Sharp by the Shaw First Sergeant Council.

Young, 20th Component Maintenance Squadron aircraft fuel systems journeyman, arrived at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., Jan. 15, 2014.

In the short time since his arrival, Tevin isolated a fuel transfer problem that evaded more seasoned technicians. His efforts reduced an aircraft backlog from eight to one. Additionally, he attended the Air Force training course and utilized his newly acquired knowledge to train fellow Airman, resulting in a five percent increase in task coverage.

He also helped to reestablish the fuel tank farm by prepping the building for personnel use and moving $15,000 worth of equipment. This effort was accomplished with no impact on the work load.

Finally, Young spent three hours helping a disabled veteran and his wife move their belongings to a house closer to their family, refusing several offers of payment.

The Philadelphia, Pa., native joined the Air Force in January 2011. He enjoys working out, rugby, outdoor activities, dinner, shooting, traveling, and movies.

Diamond Sharp, the First Sergeant Council's newly adopted program, aims to recognize two Airmen from across Shaw Air Force base monthly.
