Team Shaw personnel participated in a Comprehensive Airman Fitness week here, Feb. 3-7.

The CAF week was built on the four pillars which are mental, social, spiritual and physical fitness. CAF week in general focuses on these different components to help build comprehensive Airmen.

Something differentiating this CAF week from others is that it consisted of themed days throughout the week. The themes included family, single parenting, finances, relationships, singles, and deployments, with military and civilian representatives providing information in classroom settings.

"The opportunity to attend a wide variety of classes is great," said Chaplain (Capt.) Kathy Scott, 20th Fighter Wing chaplain. "From my perspective this has been a success."

During the week, Airmen were required to participate in at least two briefings that caught their interest, one of them having to be a suicide awareness briefing. During the briefing, Airmen were reminded how to detect suicidal individuals, and how to respond to them as a wingman.

"The goal of the CAF Conference was to market our Integrated Delivery System programs and services offered," said Karan Godette, 20th FW community support coordinator. "Our IDS is a representation of our helping agencies on the base to include the Chapel, Health & Wellness Center, Family Advocacy, Mental Health, Airman & Family Readiness Center, Military Family Life Counselor's, Equal Opportunity, and the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response office. To meet our marketing goal, we offered numerous classes from all of the agencies to include the Community Support Coordinator at the Education Center."

"The IDS team was very successful and had maximum participation from all," she added.
