The Team Shaw Chapel sponsored a free resiliency dinner and discussion at the Carolina Skies Club and Conference Center here, Oct. 4.

The event was titled, "How to truly come home," and was held for those who have been deployed or are preparing to deploy, as well as their families.

The focus of the dinner was spiritual resiliency. Maj. David Knight, 20th Fighter Wing chaplain, spoke about the challenges of deployed life, transitional stress, and spiritual resiliency.

"The dinner went very well," said Knight. "I am glad I could be the guest speaker for it since returning from my deployment."

There will be more resiliency events in the future sponsored by the Chapel.

"We will host another event on Friday, Nov. 1, titled 'Boundaries'," said Capt. Katherine Scott, 20th FW chaplain. "We are teaming up with the Child Development Center and Youth Center for childcare using the Give Parents a Break Program."

The Give Parents a Break Program is provided for military parents to have a rest from child-care responsibilities, as another tool to cope with the stress associated with deployments.

The Shaw Chapel also provides events and retreats for Shaw singles, married couples, and dorm residents. To see what events are scheduled, go to www.shawchapel.org or call the Chapel at 895-1106.
