The 20th Civil Engineer Squadron pavement and construction shop started a sidewalk demolition and replacement project here, Sept. 3, on the eastside of Building 1118, more commonly known as the 20th Force Support Squadron building.

There are no delays as of now; patrons are able to still enter into the building through alternate routes. The only section that is blocked is the stairs and crosswalk located on the eastside of the building.

The reconstruction is being led by Tech. Sgt. David Mitchell, 20th CES project manager.

"The reason for this current project is to avoid tripping hazards for patrons and employees entering the facility," said Mitchell. "Over time tree roots in the area caused the concrete pavement to become uneven."

The project is scheduled to be completed by Sept. 20, if inclement weather does not delay progress.
