The 7th Annual End of Summer Kids Fishing Tournament broke their record of fish caught with 108 fish at the Wateree Recreation Area, S.C., Aug. 24.

The previous record, set by the 6th annual tournament, was 97 fish.

Approximately 50 children participated in the event in two age categories: 7 years old and under, and 8-15 years old.

"The event is a great time for children to learn how to fish and spend quality time with family," said Curt Marshall, Wateree Recreation Area manager. "The children had a great time. I saw nothing but smiling faces. For some of the children, this was the first time they have caught a fish."

The largest fish caught during the event was a catfish that weighed 1 pound, 10 ounces.

Whether they caught anything or not, every child that participated received a door prize, a t-shirt and a bucket they could use at the beach.
