A job fair for retiring or separating service members, military spouses and dependents was held at Carolina Skies Club and Conference Center here, Aug. 2.

More than 350 people took advantage of the opportunity.

The Airman and Family Readiness Center sponsored the job fair to assist men and women transition from active-duty service to a civilian career and also help dependents of military members and Department of Defense employees find employment.

Arriving with job positions and education opportunities, 36 vendors set up booths at Carolina Skies including: educational institutes, truck and industry, construction, law enforcement, insurance and medical vendors. There were also agencies from here on base like the Exchange and off base companies.

"The event was extraordinary," said Dorcus Haney, 20th Force Support Squadron community readiness consultant. "Everyone said that it was the best job fair thus far."

The personnel manning each booth were available to speak about open job positions. The fair was arranged during lunch so that military members could take a few minutes during their break to drop off a resume instead of having to take time off of work. ."This is definitely a great annual event," said Anna Lisa Richardson, 20th FSS community readiness specialist. "It went extremely well. We had a great turnover from both companies and job seekers. There will also be smaller fairs later in the year."
