Many Airmen work in high-stress environments and are responsible for completing tasks critical to mission success. How they choose to handle themselves during such times personally and professionally reflects the Air Force core values of integrity, service and excellence.

Staff Sgt. Noelle Norwood, 20th Communications Squadron information technology asset manager, recently demonstrated her ability to perform under pressure.

"She is one of three in her shop who handles the equipment for the wing and tenant [units]," said Master Sgt. Kate Harris, 20th CS flight chief. "She is very passionate about her job and goes above and beyond to help."

As the information technology asset manager, some of the responsibilities Norwood has are handling the equipment inventory on government ordered electronics, training all equipment custodians, troubleshooting, managing all 138 BlackBerry's on base, and training personnel on software and hardware.

Without Norwood and her team, base personnel would not have the training to order equipment for their squadrons and BlackBerry's would not be configured.

"I really enjoy my job," said Norwood. "It's the people that surround me that keep me going."

Norwood was recently recognized by Maj. Gen. Jake Polumbo, 9th Air Force commander, for job excellence and professionalism.

While Polumbo was on a temporary duty assignment, his BlackBerry stopped working and Norwood was called upon for her expertise.

"It was very easy to work for him," said Norwood. "He was very nice and made me want to go and just fix this problem so that everything worked out for him."

Unable to fix the device by step-by-step instruction over the phone, Norwood waited for Polumbo to return to Shaw and was able to remedy all issues with the device in hand.

Norwood was able to remain cool, calm, and collected, while completing her mission, demonstrating how caring about your people and performing at the highest of your ability at all times equals a job well done.
