The 20th Force Support Squadron hosted the annual Team Shaw’s Freedom Bash at the Woodland Pool here June 30.

The Freedom Bash provided an opportunity for Team Shaw members to come together with their families and enjoy their liberty.

“It’s our way of celebrating the Fourth of July,” said Derrick Rhems, 20th FSS marketing and promotions director. “It helps build morale and provides an opportunity for all of Team Shaw to get together. The basis of it is to say ‘thank you’ for their service and their sacrifice; and it’s not just the uniformed persons who are in the military, it’s also the spouses and the kids who go through all of the deployments as well.”

All the activities and food served during the event were free of charge.

Attendees of the bash could choose from a variety of activities including bounce houses, face painting and swimming at the Woodland Pool. A live band from Columbia, Tokyo Joe, provided entertainment throughout the day.

“I love it, it’s very nice,” said Airman 1st Class Shadee Fulmore, 20th FSS fitness specialist. “We get to see each other outside of uniform, get to know each other on a more personal level and interact on a level we wouldn’t be able to in a work environment.”

Giving Team Shaw the opportunity to enjoy the freedom they fight to protect, the Freedom Bash brought the Shaw community together to boost morale and celebrate the country’s independence.
