The Air Combat Command inspection team and 20th Fighter Wing leadership held a briefing to kick off the week-long Unit Effectiveness Inspection here, Aug. 1.

The UEI is a tool that allows the ACC Inspector General’s office to assess the 20th FW’s ability to execute its mission and search for any areas of improvement.

“This is the capstone event and culmination of a two-year inspection cycle in which the ACC Inspector General’s office has been continually doing a virtual inspection of the 20th Fighter Wing,” said Lt. Col. Paul Batish, 20th FW IG. “This is their opportunity to travel to Shaw and get boots on ground and an eye on specific programs, and finish the inspection process for this UEI cycle.”

Specific areas assessed during the UEI include resource management, leadership, and process improvement efforts. This may help to bring attention to areas that have the greatest risk of non-compliance, according to the ACC IG’s office.

“We look forward to the results and feedback in order to make the 20th FW an even better organization,” said Batish.

An out-brief is expected to be held Aug. 5, in which the findings of the IG team and overall results of the UEI will be communicated to the wing commander.
