U.S. Air Force Col. Clark Quinn, 20th Fighter Wing vice commander, flew his final flight here, April 3.

Quinn will leave Shaw Air Force Base after approximately one year as vice commander and will assume command of the 71st Flying Training Wing, Vance AFB, Okla.

"I enjoyed being his crew chief during his final flight," said Senior Airman William Fallon, 20th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron tactical aircraft maintenance journeyman. "He's a great leader and just an all-around great guy. We hate to see him go."

Quinn graduated from the University of Florida in 1991, with a degree in aerospace engineering and received his commission in 1993 from Officer Training School. He is a Senior Pilot with more than 2,400 flying hours and has deployed in support of Operations Southern Watch and Unified Protector.

Quinn has also served as a wing Inspector General, commanded at the squadron level and has held staff positions on the Air Staff as a Branch Chief and Program Element Monitor. Additionally, he has served multiple tours at the 609th Combined Air and Space Operation Center in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

The colonel is known as an approachable commander with vast knowledge and a natural ability to lead, explained Fallon.
