Kristen Ramon 20th Medical Group SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Members of the 20th Medical Group have earned eight individual honors at the Air Force and Air Combat Command levels in the 2012 Air Force Medical Service Awards program. Tech. Sgt. Evan Singleton, 20th Dental Squadron dental logistics NCO in charge, is the Air Force Dental NCO of the Year. His accomplishments include directing a $4.2 million clinic renovation which upgraded the dental clinic's HVAC units and roof. He guided replacement of faulty windows and doors with blast proof upgrades. His oversight of the Air Force Dental Readiness Program supported 6,000 Airmen and drove an outstanding 78.9 percent dental class I rate which exceeded the Department of Defense goal by 13.9 percent. Singleton's leadership and management of key support programs led the squadron to an overall "Outstanding" rating on the 2012 Health Services Inspection. Capt. Stephanie Ceron, 20th Medical Support Squadron Medical Logistics Flight commander, is the ACC Young Health Care Administrator of the Year. Her nomination stated she facilitated 25 facility projects worth $540,000 and had key oversight of the $79.1 million new Medical Group MILCON project. She directed and developed a logistics and pharmacy process improvement study which optimized ordering and delivery processes, leading to an 87 percent improvement in service and saving 432 man hours yearly. Capt. Jaclyn Guess, 20th Aerospace Medicine Squadron Public Health Flight commander, is the ACC Biomedical Specialist Category I Company Grade Officer of the Year. Her nomination noted that she directed medical readiness preparations for 17,000 requirements, clearing three fighter squadrons and 2,000 members who deployed to six Combatant Commander Operations. Her oversight of the wing's Hearing Conservation Program led to fixes in surveillance, increasing compliance from 91 percent to 99 percent, earning the "#1" rating in ACC. Senior Airman Danielle Marsich, 20th Aerospace Medicine Squadron Public Health journeyman, is the ACC Public Health Airman of the Year. Her nomination noted that she analyzed 148 records and 740 IMR requirements with zero PDF medical discrepancies, which helped the wing pass the first ever "no notice" Operational Readiness Inspection. Her management of 96 reintegration briefs, 713 post-deployment health assessments and verification of 114 referrals and prescription requirements increased individual medical readiness to 85 percent beating the standard by 5 percent. As the group's Airman Against Drunk Driving coordinator, she scheduled 69 drivers and dispatchers, and volunteered 756 hours which led to 450 potential lives saved. Staff Sgt. Marice Wilson, 20th Medical Group Education and Training Flight chief, is the Diagnostic Imaging Technologist NCO of the Year. As the wing's Self-aid and Buddy Care Program Advisor, he managed 143 instructors and 73 monitors, driving a 97.1 percent currency rate which elevated the program to number one of 12 in ACC. As a Medical Group exercise evaluation team member, he evaluated 14 exercises and remedied 17 shortfalls, while deploying 583 personnel to Combatant Commander Operations. This led to the 20th Fighter Wing passing the first ACC/IG "no-notice" Phase 1 Operational Readiness Inspection in seven years. Capt. Matthew Weirath, 20th Medical Operations Ambulance Squadron services element chief, won the Clinical Excellence Award in the CGO category. He led patient centered medical home care, producing 57,200 safe encounters, which generated $2.6 million in quality medical care. His hard work helped launch the group to 106 percent of the AF/SG business plan goal. He oversaw exercise pre-deployment clearances for three fighter squadrons and 2,000 personnel for six Combatant Commander Operations. This assisted the 20th Fighter Wing in passing the first ACC/IG "no-notice" Phase 1 Operational Readiness Inspection in seven years. He also expedited treatment and transport of a reservist suffering from decompression sickness. His quick thinking and guidance to the civilian ER saved the member's life. Maj. Wanda Hoggard, a 20th Medical Operations Squadron family nurse practitioner, is the Privileged Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year. As a dedicated family nurse practitioner, her accomplishments include logging 1,800 patient visits and facilitating care valued at $211,000 which elevated the group to 106 percent of the AF/SG business plan goal. As a key player in the group's Patient Centered Medical Home Initiative, her superior care led to improvements in access to care and customer service goals which earned the group a $150,000 Air Force Surgeon General Performance Award. She was a driving force in improving the wing's readiness rates by conducting 48 hours of physical health assessment support, thus elevating individual medical readiness rates to 85 percent and making Shaw #1 in ACC. Maj. Steve Szulborski, 20th Medical Group Education and Training Flight commander, has won the Outstanding Achievement in Nursing Force Development Award. He was hand-picked by the ACC command surgeon as the command's medical education and training consultant to standardize practices and lead policy changes for 13 ACC military treatment facilities. He revamped the group's Readiness Skills Verification Program for 33 unique AFSCs, redesigned binders and completed appointment letters, which led to a 96.4 percent compliance rate, earning Shaw the #1 ranking in ACC. As the Team Shaw Combined Federal Campaign project officer, he helped raise $230,000, the best-ever in four categories earning the Top Eagle Award.
