This week's Shaw Spotlight is Airman 1st Class Wendell Walker, 20th Force Support Squadron food service specialist from Columbia, S.C.

Walker has been in the military for two years, with most of that time spent at Shaw.

Something that people don't know about Walker is that he almost dropped out of high school because it took him three attempts to pass his exit exam because he gave up on himself. He was advised that he wasn't college material and that he should just get his high school completion certificate. Luckily his mother kept pushing him to the point where he not only finished high school, but also completed college.

When asked his favorite quote he replied, "He's able." For him it means that during everything he has gone through or is going through, God has been a big foundation for helping him push through it all.

"Walker is my number one go-to Airman," said Tech. Sgt. Dorothy Joseph, 20th Force Support Squadron flight kitchen NCOIC.  "He is dependable, trustworthy and always doing the right thing even when no one is looking."

"It is a blessing to be around such good people, to have my family, peers, and supervisor, and to be around the right people at the right time," said Walker.
