Warrior of the Week: Airman 1st Class Terrence Troope

Warrior of the Week is Airman 1st Class Terrence Troope, 20th Comptroller Squadron lead defense travel administrator, originally from Chicago, Illinois.

"Airman Troope arrived at Shaw in December 2010," said Master Sgt. April Clark, 20th CPTS financial services flight superintendent. "He hit the ground running by stepping up to the challenge of . . . the defense travel system, a position usually held by an NCO."

He has answered over 1,800 emails regarding DTS problems travelers have encountered, she continued. He ensures that Team Shaw members' SPPs are set up correctly in DTS while they are deployed, so there is no lag time between payments. He has also approved over 1,700 contingency exercise deployment vouchers for returning members within 24 hours ensuring that Airmen get paid.

Hero/Mentor: "My grandparents. They always provide me with such good advice, words of wisdom and help me stay focused."

Goals: "I'd like to get my bachelor's degree in business management. I want to build a community service center so I can have a job where I can give back to people."

If you could spend one hour with anyone, who would it be and why? "President Obama. We're both from Chicago. I'd like to talk to him and see how he got where he is."

Favorite food: Soul food

Biggest accomplishment: "Coming from the background I came from and now being a part of the U.S. Air Force."

If could only have three things while stuck on a desert island, what would they be? Family photo, a MRE and a katana.
