Coin challenge

The history of the military challenge coin dates back to World War I when a U.S. pilot was shot down over enemy lines. To show French officers that captured him that he was an ally he presented a medallion with his units’ insignia on it. Instead of executing him, they gave him a bottle of wine. Today, military members play a game using military coins. Members playing the game present the coin when challenged, and whoever produces a lesser coin must purchase the next round of drinks.
