Jeffery Christensen (left) and Airman 1st Class William Landry (right), 20th Civil Engineer Squadron emergency management, look over training manuals for the new M50 gas mask during a train the trainer course for the joint service general purpose mask at the Chandler Deployment Processing Center on Oct. 7, 2010. The JSGPM course is designed to give Airmen enough information so they can train others how to use the M50 mask. The M50 mask is lighter weight, made with superior rubber, has an improved drinking system, a 23 percent increased field of view and features twin filters, allowing for a 50 percent improvement in breathing resistance. The M50 mask will be replacing the MCU-2/P gas mask, which is currently used here, within the next couple of months. (U.S. Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Amber E. N. Jacobs (Released))
