Remembering POW/MIAS

The prisoner of war and missing in action flag is flown underneath the American flag during the National POW/MIA Recognition Day at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., Sept. 20, 2012. The POW/MIA flag has been flown on the third Friday in September every year since 1979, when the United States Congress passed a bill calling for the remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
