Giving back to veterans
Cynthia Shortt, left, and Nancy Spangler are both part of the Disabled American Veterans Gamecock Unit 5 Auxiliary, who have been donating items to veterans at the Dorn VA Medical Center for the past 10 years during the holiday period. This year, the chapter donated 60 sweatsuits, underclothes, socks, and T-shirts for the use of indigent patients at Dorn. They also assembled 50 ?goodie bags? with assorted toiletries, puzzle book, pens, games and slippers to be given to vets as Dorn sees the need. The group spent $1,000 to purchase some of the items and the remainder were donated by members.
