Shaw Air Force Base safety award winners
Mr. James Fowlkes, Jr., 20th Fighter Wing occupational safety and health specialist, poses for his safety award photo, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., Nov. 9, 2011. Fowlkes won the civilian 2011 Geico Traffic Safety Award for his outstanding performance in setting up seatbelt surveys on Shaw to ensure they received a 99 percent use of seatbelts. He also worked with tenant units for traffic safety and the wing on traffic hazards on base and ways to mitigate them. Fowlkes also conducted four Buckle-Up events in Sumter, S.C. to help owners install them correctly and conducted bicycle rodeos to fit the children's helmets.
