Heritage: 20th Fighter Wing first tactical nuclear unit in '50s
In 1962, the 20th Fighter Bomber Wing reequipped with North American F-100 Super Sabres like this one, much better suited for the nuclear "toss bombing" mission due to their greater power and speed. A future Air Force Chief of Staff, Capt. Tony McPeak, flew F-100s with the 20th Fighter Bomber Wing at that time. (U.S. Air Force photo)
