COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Staff Sgt. Amanda Payne, 20th Fighter Wing command chief's assistant, lays a wreath on the tombstone of a fallen veteran at Fort Jackson National Cemetery during the Wreaths Across America ceremony Dec. 11, 2010. The ceremony was held to remember veterans who have passed, honor those who are serving and have served and teach the nation's children what it means to serve the country. The ceremony included a memorial presentation, World War II wreath laying, recognition of prisoners of war, those still missing in action and Merchant Marines, a 21-gun salute by a cannon battery and buglers.
