Shaw Firefighters compete at world comptetion
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Senior Airman Garrett Pope, 20th Civil Engineer firefighter, drags the 175-pound dummy to the finish line for the final leg of the five-man relay during the World Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge Nov. 13. The competition is considered "the toughest two minutes in sports" and seeks to encourage firefighters' fitness, as well as demonstrates the challenges of the profession to the public. The Shaw firefighters five-man relay placed 16th among 175 different teams from across the U.S., as well as from France, Germany, Slovenia, Canada and New Zealand at the competition.
