Operation Take-Flight

100922-F-8430J-079 SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. - Children from the Shaw Air Force Base Youth Center watch as Staff Sgt. Bryan Porter (top right), 20th Security Forces Squadron, releases his attack dog Astra on Staff Sgt. Erick Lee (top center), 20th SFS, during a demonstration, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., Sept. 22, 2010. Local children participated in Operation Take-Flight, an event that gave Airmen's children a chance to experience what it is like to process to deploy to gain a better understanding of the deployment process and to see what their parents undergo. Children were able to go through the processing line, get a mission brief and deploy to a make-believe location. This was the third year Shaw has participated in the Air Force-wide program.
