Atlantic Strike

AVON PARK, Fla. -- Two Marines return fire as their vehicle takes small arms fire while they where doing their patrol on the convoy lane at Atlantic Strike 10-02, Sept. 13, 2010. The convoy lane takes place along a rural road and focuses on counter improvised explosive device techniques and positively identifying targets with the type two tactical air control party close air support system, a video downlink which allows the joint terminal attack controller to see what the pilots see, eliminating error location factors. Atlantic Strike is a biannual Air Combat Command sponsored joint training exercise designed for the tactical employment of air power in support of joint terminal attack controller and joint fires observer integration through close air support.
