NDI: the CSI of maintenance
Senior Airman Jon Pacunas, 332nd Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron Non-Destructive Inspection Lab journeyman, locks a rod into the Joint Oil Analysis Program unit July 28, 2010, Joint Base Balad, Iraq. The rod conducts energy into a disk, which causes a flame to leach the different metals out of the oil sample. By tracking oil analysis sample results during the life of a particular machine, trends can be established, which can help eliminate costly repairs. Airman Pacunas is a native of Davenport, Iowa, deployed from Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Phillip Butterfield)
