Radio show dates to World War II

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- The Sumter Radio Station broadcast "Cadet News" and entertainment from 1942 to 1944. Today, listeners can tune to WDXY 1240 AM or 105.9 FM from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. the first and third Friday each month for "Touching Base." This program showcases units on Shaw Air Force Base as well as the latest information on activities, deployments, construction and other major events. (U.S. Air Force photo)
