Proper respects
SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Senior Airman James Ryan, 20th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, along with other members of the Shaw AFB Honor Guard, carries an unserviceable flag which was retired as part of the Flag Day ceremony June 14. In accordance with the U.S. Flag Code 36S 176, “the flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning".
