Band plays festival

Sumter, S.C. -- Staff Sgt. Mark Nixon, U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Brass Quintet band member plays the trumpet at the Iris Festival May 25. The festival has been ranked among the top twenty festivals in the Southeast. This year marks sixty-seven years of the event and it draws thousands of people into the city of Sumter. Comprised of two trumpets, horn, trombone, and tuba, the quintet is part of the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band, a 60-member ensemble based at Langley Air Force Base, Va. The band played throughout the weekend and at the Sumter County Veterans Association Memorial Day Program on May 28. (U.S. Air Force photo by Kimberly Champagne)
