Shaw heroes

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C.-- Col. James Post, 20th Fighter Wing commander, presents Tech. Sgt. William Sistler, 20th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordinance disposal technician, a Bronze Star on May 11 in hangar 1200 during a commander's call. The bronze star is awarded to servicemembers who distinguished them self by heroic or meritorious achievement or service. Sergeant Sistler received the medal for his leadership of 93 missions while deployed to Iraq. His team performed safe resolution of 67 improvised explosive devices, 11 unexploded ordnance responses and two post blast analyses. The team also destroyed 9,344 ordnance items, 57,743 rounds of small arms ammunition, 192 IED components and 3,800 pounds of homemade explosives, which significantly hindered enemy forces from conducting attacks against coalition forces.
