Dig in

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Col. Francis Xavier, 20th Mission Support Group commander, and members of the local community plant a red maple sapling as part of an Earth Day observance April 20. The base-wide Earth Day program, "Keep Shaw AFB Clean," raised environmental concerns to encourage cleaner daily practices. In addition to the tree planting ceremony, other events included a base-wide cleanup and an electronic waste turn-in. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Josef E. Cole III)
