It's a 'shamal world' for combat weather Airmen

JOINT BASE BALAD, Iraq -- Staff Sgt. Richard Skelly, a 332nd Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron combat weather forecaster, cleans components of the TMQ-53 here, June 14. The TMQ-53 is a suite of tactical weather equipment used to measure weather variables, including cloud height, wind speed and direction, humidity, dew point and atmospheric pressure. Combat weather forecasters here also use a human observer in the air traffic control tower to monitor weather conditions on the airfield. Sergeant Skelly is deployed from Andrews Air Force Base, Md.
