Military Citizen of the Year
Shaw AFB, SC-- Each year the Sumter Chamber of Commerce recognizes one local servicemember as the military member of the year. This award is based on significant civic support and contributions to the Sumter community. The Sumter Chamber of Commerce recently named SMSgt Tricia A. Benning as its Military Citizen of the Year. Senior Master Sgt. Benning's contributions to the community includes: As the chapter President and now Senior Advisor for the Air Force Sergeants Association chapter at Shaw, she reinvigorated a failing chapter into a thriving and focused professional military organization. She has partnered with the Crosswell Children's Home and in 2008 supported more than 12 events and managed more than 240 volunteers for the benefit of the children. (Stock photo)
