Operation Christmas Child

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Operation Christmas Child has been giving under-privileged children a more joyful Christmas since 1993. Shaw AFB adopted the program in 1994. "I would like to break the 500 mark this year for donated shoeboxes," said Hugh Wilson, young adult ministry coordinator at the Palmetto chapel. "We've gotten 400 in the past." Every shoebox includes the Christmas story translated into the child's native language. (U.S. Air Force photo/2nd Lt. Emily Chilson)
